Dr. Janet Van Horn, caring Veterinarian treating a cat

Getting to know my patient :)

Janet L. Van Horn, D.V.M., P.A.

Hi, I’m the primary care veterinarian for Convenient Care Mobile Veterinary Service. We strive to provide our clients with a practical blend of modern science and technology and ‘old fashioned’ private, personalized care – just as we want for ourselves!

I have been a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for over 23 years and am especially interested in animal behavior, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and geriatric care for cats and dogs.  My passion for excellence drives me to seek out information and further my education so that my patients get the best possible care – even if that might mean referring you elsewhere.  Your pet’s health and comfort are our top priority.

A Maryland native, I grew up in Anne Arundel County, attended the University of Maryland, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Animal Science and Microbiology.  In 1988, I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.  I practiced in Dundalk, Perry Hall, and Pasadena before I bought my home on Kent Island in 1992. In 1994, Convenient Care Mobile Veterinary Service was established to accommodate pet parents’ busy lifestyles, reduce pet stress, and provide comprehensive quality care.

When you schedule an appointment, I will be the Vet at your door, 99.9% of the time.  I enjoy getting to know you and your pet, gaining additional insights and examining your pet in the most comfortable scenario possible.  I say 99.9% of the time because there are occasions when I might be volunteering in Manzanillo, Mexico spaying/neutering; attending a conference; or simply enjoying some outdoor adventure with my family.  It’s rare that I take personal time off because I am so attached to my clients and patients, but I feel it’s important for my health to take a breather and come back enriched and rejuvenated – and I hope you do too.

On the rare occasion I am unavailable to see you, rest assured that you will still be working with our exceptional team, Linda and/or Frank, along with my colleague and former classmate Dr. Carol Flake-Murray. I put a lot of thought and care in selecting a doctor who is aligned with our practice philosophy.  We communicate extensively and I know you are in capable hands.

I really enjoy the outdoors when I am not working. Here I am hang gliding – it’s exhilarating!

Hello, there!  My name is Tracy Lickliter.  I am the assistant  that will be with your furry loved one the first half of the day.  I am there to assist Dr. Van Horn during anesthetic procedures and appointments.  You’ll hear and see me answering the phone and tending to patient records as well.

I graduated from the Veterinary Assistant Program in 2013 and have been working with Dr. Van Horn ever since.  Currently I am enrolled at Penn Foster College to obtain my degree in Veterinary Technology.  I am also very fortunate to enroll in several continuing education classes, such as Veterinary Dentistry for Technicians, Pet Nutrition, Behavior courses, and Digital Radiography.  My love for animals goes hand-in-hand with my love for learning.

I’ve lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland all my life and am a happy Easton resident.  I love to be out in my garden or spending time with my daughter Molly.  We have 2 cats, Buster and Jaspurr, who we rescued in 2013 as kittens.   I am usually smiling and live a cheerful, easy-going lifestyle.  I am very passionate about my family and my work – I can’t imagine myself anywhere else :)

Hello, I’m Nicole Picciotto and I accompany Dr. Van Horn in the afternoons.  I have spent the last nine years as a groomer for Bev’s Grooming.  Our paths may have also crossed during my part time job at Canine Country Club.  I am delighted to have this opportunity to see familiar faces and continue caring for pets in our community!

I moved to the Eastern Shore in 2004 with my husband.  We have a dog (George) and a cat (Mr. Bones).  Horses are also a big part of my life. I own a horse named Blue and recently added a pony, Hope, to our family.  I board my equine family members on a friend’s farm in Centreville.  When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with family, both the two- and four-luged members, traveling to visit friends, walks in the park, and horseback riding.
